Job Description:

The Lab Assistant is an important part of theEMMeducational team. The assistant will work under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator and Instructors teaching, demonstrating and assessing lab skills of students. The lab assistant can only work up to his/her certification level.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the National Registry ofEMTtesting skills. Knowledge of prehospital care as delivered byEMT-Basic, Intermediates, or Paramedic level.

  • Must have good verbal communication skills and technical skills consistent with Emergency Medical Care, Ohio Department ofEMSand all accrediting bodies.

  • Must be able to identify and correct weaknesses in student performance of skill delivery

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in setting up skill labs for the Emergency Services Technology students.

  • Monitor the students progress by observation and mentoring in the completion of skill lab. Assist Instructor explaining, demonstrating and assessing students in the lab setting.

  • Assist in cleaning and replacing items used in the skill labs as directed by the Lab Coordinator

  • Provide testing monitoring for the students as they complete the National registry skills varifiaction test completed at the end of each semester

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
