Job description

The Clinical Informaticist is responsible for communicating, collaborating and working with leadership, staff and IT teams to design and continuously improve Cerner build and related IT endeavours. Applicant will work closely with physicians, nurses, hospital administration and IT counterparts on a day-to-day basis. The Clinical Informaticist will report through clinical operations with a primary responsibility to serve as an operations/IT liaison through assessment, scoping, build, implementation, optimization upgrades, system changes and enhancements, and ongoing system maintenance, which can include system testing, troubleshooting, issue management, training and go-lives.
Essential Duties
  • Work closely with appropriate personnel to establish clinical workflows (Provider, Nursing, Front Office, Ancillary staff, Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Medication Administration and other Orders workflows)
  • Drives development of future state workflows leveraging clinical and application knowledge
  • Educates clinicians on appropriate system use and promotes positive experience of IT solutions
  • Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators for assigned facility
  • Responsible for the implementation and development of assigned clinical applications, including providing 1st-2nd level of support to end-users.
  • Work closely with internal resources and vendor to upgrade applicable software or enhancements, including testing any new functionalities, enhancements, or upgrades.
  • Monitors project progress by tracking activities; resolving problems; maintaining progress reports; and escalating problems as needed.
  • Analyzes applications and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyzes problems and errors produced by applications and end-users and work closely with end-users and vendor to effectively correct the problems.
  • Supports and troubleshoots interfaces for inbound/outbound.
  • Determines operational objectives by analyzing functions; gathering information; and evaluating output requirements and formats.
  • Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation, such as Job Aids; provides help desk support; and trains users.
  • Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures.
  • Sits on various entity and enterprise-wide IT committees as representative and liaison
  • Works with leadership to identify SMEs for project work as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Req High School or equivalent
  • Pref Bachelor's Degree Degree in related field
  • Req 2 years Experience; experience to include implementation, testing, and on-going support of clinical application(s)
  • Req 1 year Health Care Information Technology (HCIT) consulting work experience
  • Pref Cerner experience highly desired
  • Pref Experience as a Licensed Clinical worker or Health Care worker a plus
  • Req Must have clinical workflow experience.
  • Req Self-starter with ability to identify opportunities for improvement and drive change initiatives
  • Req Strong presentation skills to executives and chief clinicians
  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual rate range for this position is $99,507.00 - $164,559.00.
