Responsibilities

Under the general direction of Manager/Director of Health Informatics, Health Informatics Coordinator III accesses, inputs, and retrieves information, and solves problems using various computer systems. This position is responsible to verify and ensure receipt of all medical records upon patients discharge, prep, scan and index the same. This person acts as the liaison for physician offices and other hospital staff and assists physicians and other medical personnel in achieving timely, accurate, and complete documentation practices. This position also analyzes the medical record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations. Also, Health Informatics Coordinator III assists medical staff member in their chart completion effort, but will carry out the suspension process if the medical staff member does not complete their records in a timely manner. This person also coordinates work flow on the EHR systems and processes. Performs quality monitoring and participates in activities to improve outcomes for the integrity of the electronic health record (EHR). Customer Service is integral to the position as the coordinator is also responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality. This position is also responsible to assist with submission of OSHPD data, Cancer Registry reporting, Birth Certification process for newborns, Tracking of Newborn Screening samples and results etc. The Health Informatics Coordinator III will further support the department needs through assistance in any of analysis, Release of Information, or other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Minimum Five years HIM experience in acute care setting required
  • Accurate alphabetic, numeric, and/or terminal-digit filing skills required
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology required
  • Knowledge of the State and Federal Regulatory requirements for medical staff documentation required
  • Knowledge of the State and Federal Regulatory requirements for HIPAA Privacy and Security required
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to operate a computer, multiple software applications, and other office equipment as necessary required
  • Experience in EHR platforms and software required
  • Experience with training in an EHR and/or documentation-related applications required
  • Knowledge of clinical informatics required
  • High School diploma or equivalent
