Job description

Clinical Documentation Principal Trainer responsible for developing and delivering EHR training, supporting providers, and optimizing documentation workflows. Partners with informatics and IT to improve efficiency, compliance, and patient care outcomes.
MUST BE A CERTIFIED CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION PRINCIPLE TRAINER FROM EPIC.
Training Development & Delivery (40%)
  • Design, build, and maintain training curriculum for clinical documentation workflows (e.g., provider documentation, templates, SmartTools)
  • Deliver instructor-led, virtual, and at-the-elbow training to providers and clinical staff
  • Develop training materials including manuals, eLearning modules, quick reference guides, and simulations
  • Ensure training content aligns with system updates, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards

EHR & Workflow Expertise (25%)
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in clinical documentation workflows within the EHR (Epic preferred)
  • Collaborate with application analysts and informatics teams to understand system design and changes
  • Translate technical build into end-user training content
  • Support go-live readiness activities and command center operations

Optimization & Continuous Improvement (20%)
  • Identify documentation improvement opportunities through feedback, metrics, and workflow analysis
  • Partner with Clinical Informatics to support optimization initiatives and standardization efforts
