What is a Clinical Director BCBA?

A Clinical Director BCBA is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who oversees clinical programs and staff within organizations that provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, often for individuals with autism or other developmental disorders. This role involves supervising and training behavior analysts and therapists, developing treatment plans, and ensuring high-quality care and compliance with ethical standards. Clinical Director BCBAs play a key leadership role in shaping therapeutic strategies and ensuring that client needs are met effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Clinical Director BCBA?

To thrive as a Clinical Director BCBA, you need advanced expertise in applied behavior analysis, management experience, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification, often with a master's degree in a related field. Familiarity with data collection software, electronic health records, and ABA practice management systems is typically required. Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills help set top performers apart. These skills are crucial for ensuring high-quality clinical services, supporting staff, and achieving positive outcomes for clients.

What are the typical challenges faced by a Clinical Director BCBA when managing a team of behavior analysts?

Clinical Directors who are BCBAs often face the challenge of balancing clinical oversight with administrative responsibilities, such as supervising multiple cases, supporting their team’s professional development, and ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. Coordinating communication among staff, families, and other service providers can also be demanding, as it requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Additionally, Clinical Directors must stay updated on the latest best practices in ABA and provide ongoing training to their team to maintain high-quality care. These challenges are rewarding opportunities for leadership growth and can lead to expanded career paths within clinical management.

Job description

Description:

Who We Are

At Lighthouse Neurofeedback and Behavioral Health, we are committed to delivering high-quality, science-based care that helps individuals and families achieve meaningful, lasting change. Our work integrates behavioral health, neurodevelopmental support, and clinical innovation to serve children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of behavioral, developmental, and emotional needs.

We believe in building systems of care that are both clinically excellent and deeply human. Our team is grounded in collaboration, ethical practice, and continuous clinical improvement.

Join a Team Where You Set the Clinical Standard

Lighthouse is seeking a Doctoral-Level Clinical Director (BCBA-D required or strongly preferred) to serve as the highest clinical authority within our organization.

This is not a standard Clinical Director role. This is a senior clinical executive position responsible for all clinical oversight, treatment integrity, and program development across the organization. You will shape how care is delivered, define clinical excellence, and ensure all services meet the highest ethical and evidence-based standards in ABA and behavioral health.

This role integrates strategic leadership with deep clinical governance and requires an individual who is confident operating at both the systems level and advanced clinical level.

BCBA Clinical Director - What You’ll Do

  • Oversee all clinical operations and ensure organization-wide treatment integrity
  • Serve as the highest level of clinical decision-maker for ABA services
  • Develop, implement, and refine clinical protocols and treatment standards
  • Supervise and mentor BCBAs and clinical staff
  • Evaluate clinical appropriateness of services and approve complex cases
  • Lead clinical training systems and advanced staff development
  • Ensure ethical compliance and alignment with best practices in ABA and behavioral health
  • Collaborate with operational leadership to align clinical systems with organizational goals
  • Carry a minimal caseload (0–3 clients) focused on high-complexity and strategic cases

BCBA Clinical Director - What We Offer

  • Competitive pay with performance-based raises, promotions, and bonuses
  • Health, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Generous PTO and flexible scheduling
  • Continuing education support & clinical mentorship
  • Admin scheduling assistance so you can focus on clinical work

Ready to Apply?

Apply today and make a lasting difference with Lighthouse.

Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in ABA, Psychology, Education, or related field
  • Active BCBA certification with BCBA-D strongly preferred
  • 10–15+ years of clinical leadership experience in ABA or behavioral health
  • Prior experience in senior clinical leadership or multi-clinician oversight role
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical systems development and treatment integrity
  • Strong background in supervision of BCBAs and advanced clinical staff
  • Deep understanding of ABA ethics, assessment, and treatment design
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Ability to work fully in-person in Longmont, CO
