PENTAX Medical is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented R&D Intern / R&D Co-Op to join our team. This role provides hands-on experience in the research, design, and development of innovative medical technologies in the field of Endoscopy.
The role will play a crucial role in supporting the development and testing of medical devices by assisting with various tasks, including testing, data collection, experimental setup, and documentation to support the development aimed at improving user/patient outcomes.
Responsibilities of Research and Development Inter/Co-op
  • Assist in the design, prototyping, and testing of medical devices and components
  • Conduct laboratory experiments and bench testing to evaluate device performance
  • Analyze and document data from design verification and/or validation activities
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, design documentation, under the guidance of R&D engineers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Manufacturing as needed
  • Help maintain lab equipment, supplies, and organization
  • Perform literature reviews on relevant biomedical technologies or clinical needs
  • Assist with CAD modeling, prototyping (3D printing, machining), or finite element analysis (as applicable)
    • Other duties as assigned

Requirements of Research and Development Inter/Co-op
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • Strong interest in medical device design and development
  • Familiarity with design tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar (preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of FDA design control principles and ISO standards (preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Organized, able to manage time to handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Prior experience in a laboratory setting or with medical device R&D is a plus.
