What is a clinical contracts associate?

Clinical Contracts Associates are professionals who manage and negotiate contracts related to clinical trials and research studies, typically within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industries. They ensure that agreements with research sites, vendors, and other stakeholders are compliant with legal, regulatory, and company requirements. Their responsibilities often include drafting, reviewing, and revising contracts, as well as collaborating with legal, finance, and clinical operations teams. Clinical Contracts Associates play a crucial role in supporting the timely initiation and execution of clinical studies.

What are some common challenges a clinical contracts associate faces when negotiating agreements with clinical trial sites?

Clinical Contracts Associates often encounter challenges such as balancing sponsor requirements with site preferences, addressing complex regulatory and compliance issues, and ensuring contract language aligns with both parties' expectations. Negotiations may be prolonged due to differences in legal terms, indemnification, or budget concerns. Effective communication, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple agreements simultaneously are essential for overcoming these obstacles and maintaining positive relationships with sites.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a clinical contracts associate, and why are they important?

A Clinical Contracts Associate should possess strong knowledge of contract law, clinical trial processes, and regulatory compliance, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or a related field. Familiarity with contract management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and eClinical tools is commonly required, and certifications such as CCRA or similar are advantageous. Excellent negotiation, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help manage stakeholder expectations and resolve issues efficiently. These skills are crucial for ensuring timely, compliant contract execution and supporting the smooth operation of clinical research projects.

Job description

Veterinary Medicine Associate Position

Veterinary medicine shouldn't come at the expense of your wellbeing. At IndeVets, it won't. We've reimagined what it means to be an associate veterinarian by replacing rigid contracts with sustainable career paths, putting you in control of your schedule and guaranteeing your income, backed by hands-on support and a trusted community. Whether you want to work one day a week or five, you choose the days that work for you while receiving a biweekly salary, benefits, and dedicated scheduling support โ€” so your career finally works for your life, not the other way around.

How It Works

As a part-time W-2 veterinarian working 1โ€“3 days per week, you'll earn a guaranteed salary with a schedule you control by choosing the days you want to work. Your schedule is built in advance around those preferences by a dedicated scheduling coordinator, giving you the predictability to plan your life outside the clinic with confidence. We handle scheduling, logistics, and coordination, so you can focus on practicing medicine.

You'll have a guaranteed salary as your foundation, with the option to earn even more by picking up additional shifts when it works for you. Extra shifts can be paid out or converted into additional PTO, giving you flexibility in how you're rewarded.

You'll practice across a variety of trusted hospital settings, gaining diverse clinical experience while maintaining the consistency, support, and stability of a single employer. Interested in surgery, dentistry, ER, or urgent care? We'll work to include those types of shifts in your schedule when possible.

No searching for shifts. No rebuilding your schedule each week. Just a structured, sustainable way to stay connected to the work you love.

Practice Medicine Your Way

  • No production quotas
  • No negative accrual
  • No restrictive non-competes
  • Clinical autonomy with a focus on patient careโ€”not numbers

You practice independently โ€” but you're never on your own. You'll have dedicated medical leadership and mentorship behind you every step of the way, plus a collaborative community of fellow veterinarians who genuinely get what you're going through. And when life gets heavy, you'll have something most employers don't offer: access to a veterinary social worker. Add in ongoing CE and professional development opportunities, and this is the kind of support system that actually helps you grow โ€” and stay.

A Career That Grows With You

  • Leadership and mentorship opportunities
  • Exposure to diverse clinical settings
  • Flexibility to evolve your schedule over time
  • A model designed to prevent burnoutโ€”not cause it

Compensation & Benefits (Part-time, 1, 2, or 3 days/week)

  • Guaranteed salary based on your selected schedule, with consistent, predictable pay
  • Professional liability insurance (PLIT) and workers' compensation coverage
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • Paid Time Off (3-day program only) plus paid holidays (3-day program only)
  • Reduced administrative burden, no shift searching, contracting, or invoicing
  • Discounts on VIN, VETgirl, Fear Free, VetRec AI scribe, and more
Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

Requirements:

  • DVM or VMD from an AVMA-accredited program (or equivalent)
  • Active license (or ability to obtain)
  • DEA + controlled substance license (as applicable)
  • 1+ year of clinical experience in a small animal setting
  • Confidence practicing independently
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills

Nice-to-Haves:

  • GP, ER, or urgent care experience
  • Internship training
