PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH FACULTY POSITION

The University of Miami (UM) School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) seeks qualified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) faculty for full-time position at the Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical rank.

The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position is critical to maintaining the quality and continuity of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP) program. As enrollment continues to grow, this role will support the expansion of clinical and didactic education, student advising, and program development within the psychiatric mental health specialty.

UM is one of the top research universities and academic medical centers in the nation and is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), a distinguished organization comprised of only 3 percent of four-year universities in the United States. The University is driven by a mission to transform and impact the lives of its students, patients, community members, and people across the globe.

The mission of SONHS is to transform lives and health care through education, research, innovation, and service across the hemisphere. The School offers highly ranked and accredited programs, including baccalaureate degrees in nursing, public health, and health science, as well as master's, post-master's, and doctoral programs, including the PhD and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

SONHS offers a dynamic academic and clinical learning environment, including over 53,000 square feet of modern classrooms, seminar rooms, and research space, as well as a fully equipped 5-story, 41,000-square-foot Simulation Hospital that replicates real-world clinical practice and serves as a global destination for simulation-based education, research, and service.

Qualifications:

  • PhD, DNP, Doctoral Degree in Nursing or Masters in Nursing (MSN required)
  • Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
  • Current and active APRN and RN license (or eligibility for licensure in Florida prior to start)
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive clinical experience in psychiatric mental health settings
  • Experience teaching, precepting, or mentoring in graduate nursing education preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct didactic, simulation, and clinical teaching and provide academic and clinical advising to students in the PMHNP program
  • Support curriculum delivery and participate in the development and evaluation of courses and program outcomes
  • Collaborate in scholarship and research activities and contribute to peer-reviewed publications as appropriate
  • Participate in community and academic service, including maintaining and expanding clinical partnerships
  • Guide and mentor students in scholarly projects and clinical training experiences
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the PMHNP program as an active faculty member
