As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Coastal Resilience Specialist to join our growing team.The Coastal Resilience Specialist supports NOAA's mission to advance coastal resilience, climate adaptation, and risk reduction by ensuring effective coordination of executive-level initiatives, maintaining continuity across cross-agency teams, and facilitating the successful integration of NOAA fellowship and education program participants.
Responsibilities
  • Provide executive and program coordination support for leadership teams, including meeting planning, agenda development, meeting documentation, and action item tracking.
  • Prepare briefing materials, status reports, presentations, and other program documentation to support executive decision-making.
  • Coordinate follow-up on program activities, monitor milestones, and maintain tracking systems to ensure timely completion of assigned actions.
  • Support cross-office and interagency collaboration by coordinating communications, meetings, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and day-to-day support for fellows, interns, and other temporary staff, including development of work plans and transition materials.
  • Monitor progress of assigned projects and personnel, conduct regular check-ins, and ensure compliance with program requirements and established timelines.
  • Develop and maintain organizational procedures, documentation, and knowledge management resources that improve program continuity and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other program coordination and administrative support activities as assigned in support of NOAA coastal resilience initiatives.

Qualifications
The Coastal Resilience Specialist selected should have the following:
  • Master's degree in environmental science, marine science, public administration, natural resource management, policy, or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience.

The Ideal Coastal Resilience Specialist will have the following:
  • Experience supporting complex programs, executive leadership, or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational, project coordination, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including meeting facilitation, technical writing, and preparation of executive-level reports and briefings.
  • Experience developing and maintaining project tracking systems, schedules, and program documentation.
