Job description

HealthPartners is seeking a highly motivated Sales Client Service Specialist (CSS) to join our Commercial Sales and Account Management team. The CSS plays a critical role in delivering exceptional service and support to clients, brokers, consultants, members, and internal partners. Working closely with Account Managers, this position contributes to client retention, satisfaction, and growth through proactive service, renewal coordination, issue resolution, reporting support, and relationship management.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple priorities. This role offers an opportunity to develop expertise in health insurance, client relationship management, analytics, and account management while partnering closely with experienced sales and service professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Client, Broker & Member Support

  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for clients, brokers, consultants, members, and internal business partners.
  • Deliver exceptional service through timely, accurate, and professional responses to inquiries and service requests.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to resolve member, client, and broker issues and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, brokers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Escalate emerging issues, risks, or opportunities to Account Managers and leadership as appropriate.

Account Management & Renewal Support

  • Partner with Account Managers to support client retention and growth strategies.
  • Coordinate and manage renewal-related activities, including: 
    • Distribution and collection of renewal verification forms.
    • Preparation and submission of underwriting requests.
    • Documentation of benefit and plan design changes.
    • Coordination of information necessary for accurate renewal development.
  • Assist in preparing client-facing materials, presentations, proposals, and plan comparisons.
  • Support implementation of plan and network alternatives that align with client needs and business objectives.

Reporting, Analytics & Administration

  • Setup standard utilization reports and respond to routine client reporting requests.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies to ensure reporting accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain accurate client records, databases, files, and documentation.
  • Prepare Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBCs), plan documents, and other client deliverables in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation and recordkeeping requirements.

Client Engagement & Representation

  • Participate in client meetings, open enrollment events, health fairs, and other customer-facing engagements.
  • Present HealthPartners products, benefits, and service information to clients, members, consultants and brokers.
  • Contribute to internal team meetings and collaborative initiatives focused on enhancing client service and operational effectiveness.

Professional Development & Industry Knowledge

  • Maintain a working knowledge of HealthPartners products, services, plans, and administrative processes.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and healthcare market developments.
  • Continuously develop skills and knowledge to enhance service delivery and support business goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in customer service, client service, account support, sales support, insurance operations, or a related field.
  • Ability to obtain a Minnesota insurance license within three months of hire.
  • Demonstrated professional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Current, valid, unrestricted driver's license in state of residence free of major traffic violations or a pattern of repeated violations for the last 3 years with access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Ability to execute a confidential information & non-solicitation agreement upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting sales, account management, or client relationship management activities within the healthcare or health insurance industry.
  • Knowledge of health insurance products, funding arrangements, and managed care concepts.
  • Experience supporting employer group health plans and renewal processes.
  • Experience presenting to clients, members, or business partners.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
