Position Summary

The Business Development & Client Relations Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with current clients, prospective clients, strategic partners, and industry decision-makers.

Introduce Fuselier Surveying & Mapping to prospective clients and clearly communicate the company’s capabilities

Coordinate meetings between prospective clients and Fuselier’s technical leadership

Organize Lunch and Learns, client presentations, networking opportunities, and relationship-building events

Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, association meetings, community events, and industry functions

Maintain regular contact with existing clients to identify upcoming projects and additional service needs

Reconnect with former and inactive clients

Follow up on introductions, meetings, proposals, and potential opportunities in a timely and professional manner

Develop organized 30-, 60-, and 90-day follow-up plans for key accounts and prospective clients

Document client interactions, opportunities, commitments, and next steps in the company’s customer relationship management system

Research prospective clients, upcoming developments, capital projects, and industry opportunities

Coordinate with company leadership to develop account strategies and pursuit plans

Provide weekly updates regarding client activity, developing opportunities, required follow-up, and areas where technical leadership is needed

Assist with client appreciation activities and strategic outreach

Help evaluate why opportunities were won, lost, or delayed

Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when representing the company

Perform other business development and client relations duties as needed

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

Genuinely enjoys meeting people and developing long-term professional relationships

Is comfortable initiating conversations, making introductions, and requesting meetings

Can communicate confidently with executives, project managers, engineers, contractors, public officials, and field personnel

Is highly organized, dependable, and disciplined about follow-up

Understands that professional relationships are developed through consistency, trust, and repeated contact

Can remain persistent without becoming aggressive or bothersome

Listens carefully and asks thoughtful questions

Can recognize client needs and potential business opportunities

Is comfortable attending meetings, conferences, and networking events independently

Can represent the company professionally in both office and construction-site environments

Is willing to travel regularly throughout Louisiana and occasionally into Texas or other regional markets

Can learn technical services without overstating their level of expertise

Understands that every meaningful client interaction should end with a documented next step

Is comfortable being measured through both relationship-building activity and business results

Has the confidence to enter unfamiliar rooms, introduce the company, and build relationships with decision-makers

Preferred Experience

Three or more years of experience in business development, client relations, account management, outside sales, construction, engineering, surveying, land development, utilities, municipal services, or another architecture, engineering, and construction-related field

Existing relationships within engineering, construction, development, industrial, municipal, utility, or infrastructure markets are highly desirable

Demonstrated experience developing professional relationships that resulted in new clients, contracts, projects, or revenue

Experience using a CRM or another structured client follow-up system

Experience organizing professional meetings, client presentations, conferences, Lunch and Learns, or networking events

Familiarity with professional services and relationship-based business development

Experience working with engineering firms, contractors, developers, municipalities, utilities, industrial clients, or public agencies

Direct surveying experience is preferred but not required.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Relevant industry experience, demonstrated relationship-building ability, professional maturity, and a proven history of follow-through may be considered in place of a specific degree.

Required Qualifications

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Ability to travel regularly for client visits, meetings, conferences, and industry events

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Professional appearance and demeanor

Proficiency with email, calendars, Microsoft Office, and mobile business applications

Ability to maintain accurate client and opportunity records

Ability to manage multiple relationships and follow-up commitments simultaneously

Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with company leadership

Willingness to occasionally attend breakfast meetings, evening events, conferences, or other functions outside normal business hours

Ability to visit active construction sites and comply with applicable safety requirements

What Success Looks Like

Success in this position will be measured through both relationship-building activity and business results, including:

Meaningful meetings with clients and prospective clients

New relationships with decision-makers

Consistent and timely follow-up

New qualified business opportunities

Increased engagement with existing clients

Reactivation of former or inactive clients

Lunch and Learns, presentations, conferences, and site visits coordinated

New clients and contracts developed

Growth within targeted markets and assigned accounts

Accurate and consistent use of the company’s CRM

Strong coordination with company leadership and technical personnel

Growth in the company’s qualified opportunity pipeline

Revenue generated from new and developed client relationships

Positive feedback from clients and company leadership

Because professional-service relationships often take time to develop, performance will not be measured solely by immediate sales revenue.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary of $75,000–$110,000 annually , depending on relevant experience, existing industry relationships, and demonstrated business-development performance

Performance-based bonus opportunity

Company vehicle or vehicle allowance

Reimbursement of approved travel, conference, client-development, and business expenses

Paid time off

Company-supported professional development and industry participation

Additional employee benefits discussed during the interview process

Exceptional candidates with a substantial industry network and a documented record of developing significant professional-services revenue may receive additional consideration.

This is a professional salaried position and is not a commission-only sales role.
