 Position Description

The Project Engineer III is responsible for leading the design, reporting, and/or engineering on various engineering projects. Work will include various technical design and applicable permitting tasks as well as writing and reporting on a variety of projects including residential, commercial, infrastructure, and renewable energy for private and public clients. 


 Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for everyday project activities, quality control, project deliverables, and plan set review
  • Make engineering design decisions independently or with minimal oversight
  • Serve as main point-of-contact for all project-related questions and concerns from internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead communication with contractors and subcontractors on all engineering tasks
  • Proactively manage design issues, budgetary concerns, and other project-related complications
  • Coordinate regularly with other internal and/or external team members, clients, and municipal agencies
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control checks regularly and proactively resolve any quality issues
  • Recommend solutions to technical or regulatory issues for permit compliance
  • Lead and coordinate large projects ensuring deadlines, technical aspects, and quality and financial expectations of design intent are met 
  • Perform field inspections of existing site conditions and water, sewer, road, and other infrastructure as necessary
  • Produce drawings using computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software, and/or modify drawings as necessary
  • Plot, organize and assemble project-related documents, permit applications, and cut sheets
  • Responsible for obtaining permits with various local, county and/or state agencies as necessary
  • Prepare project specifications, standard details, bid documents, and quantities for construction estimate
  • As necessary, ability to work independently on      municipal projects or scheduled meetings with municipal staff, customers,      or other governmental agencies; municipal duties may include preparation of      water and sewer rates, budgets, fee schedules, standards, capital      improvement plans, and application process.
  • Exercise judgment with adaptations of engineering alternatives while adhering to Company standards and methodologies
  • Perform QA/QC review on drawings, technical reports, and other project related documents
  • Serve as technical resource and mentor for other associates within team and across company
  • Maintain exceptional internal and external client relations
  • Achieve performance objectives and financial metrics 
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • PE license required
  • Minimum seven (7) years applicable experience
  • Previous experience in land development or municipal engineering; thorough knowledge of all phases of civil engineering and the operation of municipal government
  • High proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office; BS&A knowledge a plus
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel to the corporate office as well as client and project sites
  • Excellent concentration and proofreading skills  with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams including technical and non-technical personnel
  • Resourceful, action-oriented, creative, and analytical thinker
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines as well as balance multiple projects by  prioritizing effectively
  • Strong planning, organization, preparation, and execution capabilities
  • Open to new ideas, innovation, and change
