DACON delivers construction services across substations and power systems, supporting electric utilities, power generation, industrial, petrochemical, and renewable energy clients.
Backed by more than 60 years of experience through Dashiell, DACON provides field-proven expertise in substation construction, equipment installation, cable systems, and energized infrastructure projects. DACON is part of a nationwide network of Quanta Services companies delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality electrical construction solutions. Learn more at www.dashiell.com.
Primary Function:
The Project Manager is responsible for the full lifecycle management of electrical construction projects within DACON's substation and power systems portfolio, including active participation in project estimating and bid development. The Project Manager leads cross-functional project teams, manages client relationships, and ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget, while contributing to competitive and accurate estimates for new high-voltage and power construction opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
  • Manage all phases of electrical construction projects - including planning, procurement, execution, and closeout - for substation and medium- to high-voltage power system projects.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts; proactively identify and resolve schedule and cost deviations.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for day-to-day project communications; build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and recurring project review meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and client stakeholders.
  • Manage subcontracts, vendor agreements, and material procurement in coordination with the procurement team.
  • Direct and mentor Assistant Project Managers and project support staff assigned to projects.
  • Administer the project change management process including identification, pricing, negotiation, and documentation of change orders.
  • Review and approve project invoices, cost coding, and monthly cost reports; forecast project financial performance through completion.
  • Coordinate with field supervision and engineering to resolve technical issues and maintain project quality standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with project safety plans, Dacon's safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present project status reports, schedule updates, and financial summaries for senior management and clients.
  • Prepare and manage complete project estimates for assigned bid opportunities, including labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs for substation and medium- to high-voltage electrical construction projects.
  • Lead pre-bid site walks and bid strategy discussions; coordinate subcontractor and vendor solicitations to support competitive and accurate estimates.
  • Review and validate estimate assumptions, exclusions, and clarifications; participate in the bid review and approval process prior to proposal submission.
  • Support the handoff from estimate to execution by clearly communicating cost assumptions, scope inclusions/exclusions, and risk items to the project delivery team.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Drive safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery of electrical construction projects, directly contributing to Dacon's revenue and profitability.
  • Strengthen client relationships through proactive communication, issue resolution, and consistent delivery of project commitments.
  • Develop and mentor junior project management staff, building organizational capacity and supporting career growth within the team.
  • Protect project financial health by maintaining rigorous cost controls and actively managing the change order process.
  • Contribute to business growth by developing accurate, competitive estimates that support successful bids on high-voltage and power construction projects.
  • Advance Dacon's safety culture by championing compliance with safety plans and modeling leadership behaviors in the field.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree on a year-for-year basis (4 years = Bachelor's equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in electrical construction, substation construction, or power systems.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from $2M to $20M+ in substation, transmission, or medium- to high-voltage electrical infrastructure.
