Job Description

Ares is seeking a Vice-President to serve as Senior Project Manager within Client Platforms, the engineering team responsible for all Client facing systems within Ares, including Sales, Marketing, Client Reporting, and Digital/Web platforms. Reporting to the Principal, Head Institutional and Retail Client Platforms, this leader is responsible for the successful delivery of complex, cross-functional technology initiatives. The role serves as the central point of coordination across engineering, architecture, product, operations, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure strategic initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and with complete transparency.

The successful candidate brings a proven track record of consistently delivering strategic initiatives with predictable execution. They create transparency for leadership, effectively manage complex dependencies, anticipate and mitigate risks before they impact delivery, and build trusted partnerships across technology and business teams. The candidate should have outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the leadership presence to influence senior stakeholders across engineering and the business. This role demands both strategic thinking and a pragmatic focus.

Reports to: Principal, Head of Institutional and Client Platforms

Supervises: All client platform project managers

Primary functions & responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple concurrent technology initiatives.
  • Drive accountability for commitments and proactively resolve blockers.
  • Facilitate governance forums, steering committees, and decision-making processes.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, roadmaps, milestones, and delivery schedules.
  • Manage all cross-team and intra-team dependencies to ensure coordinated execution.
  • Identify, assess, communicate, and mitigate delivery risks, issues, assumptions, and constraints.
  • Provide concise executive-level status reporting, including schedule, scope, budget, risks, and delivery confidence.
  • Champion Agile methodologies and promote Agile ceremonies to ensure effective backlog, sprint, and release planning, while applying hybrid delivery approaches where appropriate.
  • Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned and delivery metrics.
Qualifications

Experience & Background

  • 8+ years managing complex enterprise technology projects or programs.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, cross-functional initiatives in matrixed organizations.
  • Deep understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and project management best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with proactive risk management.
  • Experience presenting to senior executives and running steering committees
  • Experience within asset management, financial services, or capital markets preferred
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, or similar tools preferred

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$200,000 - $235,000
