Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager - Landscaping to support the successful planning, coordination, and execution of residential landscape construction projects in Greenville, SC.
This role offers a dynamic combination of office-based project administration and hands-on field involvement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both operational coordination and active jobsite engagement. Working closely with an experienced Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will help oversee project schedules, subcontractor coordination, invoicing, logistics, quality control, and client communication while gaining valuable field experience across all phases of landscape construction.
This position is intentionally designed as a structured development path into a full Project Manager role within approximately 18-24 months, providing mentorship, leadership exposure, and professional growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Administration & Coordination
Manage project schedules, documentation, and workflow from project kickoff through final closeout
Create, update, and maintain Gantt charts in collaboration with the Project Manager
Prepare and issue:
Generate and distribute project invoices at various project milestones, including:
Pre-construction billing
Progress billing
Final invoicing
Manage work orders and dispatch activities using project management software such as Aspire
Coordinate material deliveries and project logistics to ensure timely project execution
Track labor hours, production quantities, and performance against project estimates
Maintain organized project files, photo documentation, and daily progress logs
Support accounts receivable follow-up and escalate overdue accounts when necessary
Schedule meetings, update calendars, and maintain communication across project stakeholders
Field Support & Project Oversight
Spend approximately 50% of work time supporting active job sites in the field
Assist with daily crew coordination, sequencing, and production oversight
Conduct site walks to verify work quality and ensure installations align with:
Project plans
Specifications
Client expectations
Identify and communicate field issues related to:
Materials
Crew needs
Scope changes
Scheduling conflicts
Support project closeout activities and punch list completion
Enforce company safety standards and jobsite policies
Verify proper installation practices for:
Irrigation systems
Sod and planting
Hardscape installations
Drainage systems
Grading
Landscape enhancements
Client & Team Communication
Serve as a primary administrative contact for project coordination communications
Keep clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams informed of:
Schedule updates
Project milestones
Scope changes
Delivery timelines
Assist in managing client expectations throughout the project lifecycle
Help resolve scheduling, field, or operational concerns professionally and efficiently
Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders
Required Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret landscape construction plans and specifications
