WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
CHI is looking for a full-time Program Manager based out of our Commack location. As Program Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of social work services within the respective program in Suffolk County, ensuring that quality housing services are provided effectively and in accordance with guidelines established by CHI, HUD, Section 8, Suffolk County Department of Social Services, and other funding sources as appropriate.
  • Ensure assigned supervised program is providing quality services and is compliant with program requirements.
  • Promote sound social work practices through supervision including case consultations, case file reviews, and employee performance appraisals.
  • Ensure the shelter meets New York State OTDA license requirements and standard operating regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records related to annual state inspections.
  • Provide regular supervision for staff on site; Case Managers, Food Handler, Resident Support Staff (RSS), Housing Specialist, and other managers.
  • Conduct 1 to 1 meetings with members of your team and update the performance goals, accomplishments, notes, and feedback in Paycom on a regular basis (weekly/bi-weekly).
  • Ensure the timely and correct submission of all internal and external reports in the manner required by funding agencies and/or CHI (housing logs, client contact sheets, unit inspection sheets, progress notes, authorization forms, census reports, etc.).
  • Inform Emergency Housing Director of any program or agency wide deficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain a resource network for referrals as related to the needs of the individuals being served at the shelter.
  • Provide crisis intervention as appropriate.
  • Prevent loss of income to CHI as a result of vacancy loss, lost shelter payments, and/or DSS housing sanctions. Adheres to proper use of company resources (cell phones, office supplies, internet, etc.).
  • Coordinate admission and discharge processes. Act as a liaison with agencies responsible for referring eligible clients.
  • Maintain professional appropriateness at all times.
  • Participate in the hiring process, initial and annual employee evaluations, and disciplinary measures for direct reports.
  • Responsible to oversee appropriate coverage and payroll procedures within department. Provide on-call coverage as needed.
  • Ensure that all staff maintain mandated and recommended trainings.
  • Act as an agency representative to external partners.

WHAT DO I NEED?
Education: Master's Degree in Social Work or similar field required. Five years' experience with two years supervisory in client services and program administration.
In lieu of a Master's degree, a candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in human services.
Experience: Seven years of experience in social services with three years supervisory in client services and program administration.
Certificates or Licenses: Valid driver's license required. New York State Social Work License preferred.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Computer Skills: Basic competency in MS Windows, MS Office, and internet usage. Knowledge of Foothold Awards system a plus.
Math Skills: Ability to formulate simple budgets.
Physical Performance: Ability to tour properties, walk distances, climb stairs, etc.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions, and judgment calls.
Other Skills: Ability to relate to the underserved, homeless, and disabled populations. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to details. Must be even-tempered, supervise effectively, have good negotiation skills, and the ability to meet unexpected deadlines.
