Job description

Do you love connecting with people, building relationships, and helping them find the support they need, even in their most difficult moments? Maybe you've been through a divorce or a family law matter yourself and know firsthand how much it matters to feel heard from the very first phone call.

January Family Law, LLC is a growing family law boutique firm seeking a driven, empathetic, and experienced sales professional to serve as our Intake Sales Specialist. This is not a traditional administrative role — it is a high-impact, revenue-generating position for someone who thrives in a consultative sales environment and understands the nuance of connecting with people during emotionally sensitive moments.

You will be the first voice prospective clients hear and a key driver of our firm's growth. If you lead with empathy, own a pipeline, and know how to convert leads into signed clients, we want to hear from you.

Compensation:

$65,000 base salary + excellent bonus potential

Responsibilities:

Sales & Lead Conversion

  • Own the full intake sales cycle — from first contact to signed engagement
  • Respond to inbound leads via phone, email, and web within established SLA windows; maintain urgency and professionalism at every touchpoint
  • Conduct structured intake consultations to assess legal needs, determine case eligibility, and confidently guide prospective clients through service offerings, pricing, and next steps
  • Execute outbound follow-up strategies on warm leads, cold prospects, and lapsed inquiries to maximize conversion rates
  • Meet and exceed monthly conversion targets and KPIs

Pipeline & CRM Management

  • Maintain accurate, real-time records in the CRM (Smokeball); own pipeline hygiene and lead progression from inquiry to close
  • Build and run automated follow-up workflows to reduce lead drop-off
  • Produce weekly performance reports tracking lead volume, conversion rates, pipeline value, and trends — with actionable recommendations to improve outcomes

Referral Program Development

  • Proactively build and grow a structured referral network with professionals in legal, therapy/counseling, financial services, and other adjacent fields
  • Cultivate relationships with former and current clients to generate organic referrals
  • Partner with marketing to develop outbound sales strategies, co-marketing opportunities, and firm partnership pipelines

Scheduling & Client Experience

  • Coordinate and manage attorney consultation calendars to maximize capacity and minimize no-shows
  • Serve as a seamless handoff point between intake and the legal team, ensuring thorough documentation and warm transitions
  • Champion a client experience that makes every prospective client feel heard, respected, and confident in choosing our firm

Operational Collaboration

  • Work cross-functionally with attorneys, marketing, and operations to continuously refine intake processes and improve client conversion
  • Identify and implement software or automation opportunities to optimize the intake workflow
  • Support operational tasks as needed (email drafting, spreadsheet reporting, scheduling coordination)

Qualifications:

Experience & Background

  • 3–5+ years of proven sales experience, preferably in professional services, legal, healthcare, or a high-trust consultative sales environment
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas and converting leads in a consultative setting
  • Experience managing a CRM and owning a sales pipeline end-to-end
  • Background in the legal industry or legal intake is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with Smokeball, Clio, or similar legal practice management software preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Consultative, empathy-driven sales approach — you can close without being pushy
  • High emotional intelligence; comfortable navigating sensitive conversations with people in distress
  • Strong communicator — articulate, professional, and personable in all formats (phone, email, video)
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and highly organized with the ability to manage high-volume outreach independently
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in CRM tools, MS Office, and Google Suite; ability to identify and implement automation opportunities
  • Comfortable with both warm lead follow-up and cold outreach/networking

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Communications, or related field)
  • High school diploma or GED required; relevant experience may substitute for degree

Other Requirements

  • Must reside in Illinois
  • Ability to work in the office in Chicago on occasion; role is primarily remote
