Job description

Pacific Shipyards International (PSI) is searching for an experienced Project Manager to join our ship repair team in Hawaii. Position Title: Project Manager Reports To: Vice President of Production Location: Honolulu, Hawaii Position Summary We are seeking a highly qualified Project Manager (PM) to join our Project Management team. The Project Manager will report to the Vice President of Production and is responsible for the management and execution of commercial ship repair projects ranging from $1M to $20M in value.

The PM serves as the primary point of contact for customers and is responsible for the overall financial, contractual, and operational performance of assigned projects. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and business acumen to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer and contractual requirements. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and possess the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, coordinate cross-functional teams, and successfully navigate project risks, scope changes, and customer expectations while maintaining project profitability and customer satisfaction.

The PM must establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, owners, estimators, engineers, subcontractors, supervisors, and production personnel. Experience with contract administration, project controls, forecasting, scheduling, change management, and customer relationship management is essential. Experience in commercial ship repair, shipbuilding, industrial construction, marine services, or related industries is highly desirable.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Serve as the primary customer point of contact throughout project execution. Manage all aspects of assigned ship repair & commercial projects, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and customer satisfaction. Lead project planning efforts, including scheduling, resource allocation, forecasting, and execution strategies.

Monitor and manage project financial performance, including budgets, labor utilization, cost control, revenue realization, and profitability. Develop, negotiate, and administer contract modifications, change orders, and growth work opportunities. Coordinate activities between production, engineering, planning, procurement, quality, subcontractors, and customer representatives.

Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to support successful project outcomes. Lead project meetings with customers, management, and internal stakeholders to communicate project status, priorities, and performance. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and contractual requirements Support proposal development, estimating efforts, and customer relationship management activities as required.

The Commercial PM may be assigned other duties as required, including non-commercial projects. Education/Training/Skills: Bachelor of Science in engineering or related field or equivalent work experience Minimum requirement of 10 years of ship repair or marine industry experience Minimum requirement of 5 years of project management experience PMP certification desirable Knowledge of managing federal contracts Knowledge of shipboard lock-out tag-out procedures Previous experience or training in work sequencing and scheduling Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project or similar scheduling software Qualification/Requirements: Must show proof of legal right to work in the United States and US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Must be able to obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check before employment begins.
