The PositionJob TitleInsurance Small Business Sales AssociateJob Description

The Insurance Small Business Sales Associate is responsible for generating new commercial insurance business through qualified leads and referral sources. This role serves small business clients by evaluating insurance needs, recommending appropriate commercial lines coverage solutions, preparing quotes, and closing new business opportunities. The position works closely with internal banking partners and referral sources to deliver a seamless client experience while supporting the growth objectives of First United Bank.

This is a role built for someone who would rather spend the day winning deals than digging for them - a competitive, fast-moving producer who thrives on momentum, thinks on their feet, and turns warm introductions into long-term wins. If you get restless when the pipeline slows down, read a prospect in the first thirty seconds, and measure a good day by how many deals you moved - keep reading.

  • Move fast: make contact right away, juggle multiple prospects at once, and keep every deal in motion.
  • Run your own quoting process across carrier platforms - you decide which carrier fits, you build the solution, you make the call.
  • Use a consultative approach to uncover what each business actually needs, then win them over with the right coverage at the right price.
  • Grow your business & earnings: build relationships with in-house referral partners to increase lead volume, sales, and ultimately your own earning potential.

  • Prepare, analyze, and present commercial insurance quotes utilizing carrier platforms and underwriting resources.
  • Evaluate available carrier options and recommend appropriate coverage solutions based on client needs, pricing, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Negotiate, close, and bind new commercial insurance policies
  • Facilitate a smooth transition of newly bound accounts to the servicing team and communicate necessary account information to ensure continuity of service.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal banking partners, lenders, and referral sources to support ongoing lead generation and business development efforts.
  • Serve as a trusted insurance resource for referral partners by providing timely communication, updates, and professional consultation throughout the sales process.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of prospect, client, and sales activities within Salesforce and Applied Epic
  • Monitor sales activity, pipeline progression, and production goals to ensure achievement of established performance objectives.
  • Stay informed regarding commercial insurance products, carrier offerings, underwriting guidelines, and industry trends.
