Location: Tampa, FL. This role is full-time on-site during the first 90 days of training. After training, the role remains primarily in-person with flexibility around start and finish times, and hybrid flexibility may be earned on a case-by-case basis once you are fully trusted, able to work independently, and consistently adding value to clients and the team. Candidates must already live in the Tampa Bay area within a reasonable commute.

Note: We are looking for a seasoned accounting professional with strong client-facing experience, payroll tax knowledge, and the ability to review client financials before tax preparation. This person must be comfortable identifying variances, anomalies, missing items, and financial issues while coordinating workflow across the team.

Job Description

  • Review client financials before tax preparation to identify variances, anomalies, missing items, and potential issues.
  • Oversee workflow and project flow across client accounting work, making sure priorities, deadlines, and deliverables stay on track.
  • Coordinate with internal accounting team members to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in line with client expectations.
  • Communicate directly with business owners and client contacts to gather information, explain findings, set expectations, and resolve questions.
  • Review work completed by team members and provide guidance, feedback, and follow-up to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support payroll tax review and related client accounting matters.
  • Help identify process improvements, documentation needs, and opportunities to improve client service.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership and the accounting team in a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Serve as a trusted client-facing accounting resource while helping the firm continue to grow and strengthen its service model.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of accounting experience required.
  • Strong client-facing accounting experience required.
  • Experience reviewing client financials before tax preparation required.
  • Payroll tax experience required.
  • Strong ability to identify variances, anomalies, missing information, and financial issues.
  • Experience managing workflow, project flow, deadlines, and internal team coordination.
  • CPA, EA, or actively working toward CPA or EA strongly preferred.
  • Audit background or strong financial review and quality-control experience preferred.
  • QuickBooks experience strongly preferred, especially QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong professional presence with the ability to communicate confidently with business owners.
  • Highly collaborative, organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across a team.
