DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role provides a wide range of clerical support to help keep bureau operations accurate, efficient, and timely. You will assist with managing information, processing requests, and maintaining essential records. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Mail Processing: Review incoming mail, determine routing, and scan and distribute materials
  • Outgoing Mail: Select appropriate delivery methods for outgoing correspondence
  • Document Imaging: Scan SSA letters into PACSES Imaging for Domestic Relations Sections
  • Fair Hearings: Enter Fair Hearing requests, assign cases, and manage repository records
  • Access Tracking: Maintain position details and track onboard and offboard system access requests
  • Operational Support: Assist other members of the clerical team during high volume periods or staff absence

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Telework:This position requires you to report to the office full-time during the probationary period. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, you may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, working in the assigned headquarters office 3 days per week . In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
