Job description

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking a Palliative Care Physician to support the growth of our long-established, multi-disciplinary academic palliative care program.

The responsibilities of the position include attending on the palliative care admitting service, inpatient consultation service and the ambulatory care practice. Responsibilities also include supervising and instructing palliative care fellows and other trainees, supervising APP's, and participating in the clinical, educational, and research activities of the Service.

The position requires an M.D./D.O. degree from an LCME-approved medical school or equivalent. Satisfactory completion of an Internal Medicine residency program from an ACGME-accredited program is preferred; however, primary training in other specialties may be considered. Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Candidate must also be eligible for Texas medical licensure.

The multidisciplinary Palliative Care services include dedicated support staff, including APP's, social workers, chaplains, clinical psychologists, nursing staff and pharmacy support. Our mission is to recruit outstanding Academic Palliative Medicine Physicians from diverse backgrounds with the skills to conduct clinical research, teach the next generation of residents and fellows, and provide exemplary care to patients from all backgrounds, especially those from underserved and culturally diverse populations.
