To excel as a CLEET-certified security officer, you need a strong understanding of security protocols, law enforcement procedures, and must complete the required CLEET (Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training) certification. Familiarity with surveillance systems, incident reporting software, and emergency response equipment is typically necessary. Outstanding observation skills, integrity, and the ability to remain calm under pressure set top professionals apart. CLEET-certified security officers often face challenges such as maintaining vigilance during long shifts, responding to unpredictable situations, and balancing enforcement with customer service. Effective management of these challenges involves staying updated with ongoing training, practicing clear communication with team members, and following established protocols. Building strong situational awareness and using de-escalation techniques also help officers handle incidents professionally and ensure safety for themselves and others.

What are CLEET officers?

CLEET is the state agency responsible for setting minimum training and certification standards for peace officers, private security, and other law enforcement roles in Oklahoma. CLEET ensures that officers receive proper education, training, and continuing education to maintain public safety and professionalism. Certification is required to work as a police officer, security guard, or in related fields within the state.
