Job description

Summary:

This role is responsible for overseeing the shipping operations within the organization. This role plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and timely shipment of products, managing logistics and transportation, and maintaining compliance with shipping regulations.

Essential Functions:
  • Ensure shipping and receiving priorities are identified and communicated.
  • Organize all pre-shipment and post-shipment documentation to comply with all appropriate agencies, custom office, and shippers, clearing forwarding, and obtain all necessary import or export permissions.
  • Provide reports regularly on on-time delivery and production throughput relative to staffing inefficiencies.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders regarding shipping priorities and potential issues.
  • Continually improve safety records by addressing physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
  • Provide recommendations for staffing resources
  • Drive continuous improvement in the shipping and logistics department, focusing on improving system quality while driving down costs.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.  May consider equivalent work experience in lieu of education
  • 2+ years of experience in shipping or logistics 
  • Strong knowledge of shipping processes, transportation modes, and shipping regulations
  • Familiarity with shipping software systems and technologies, such as warehouse management systems and transportation management systems
