Machine Builder - Automation
Location: Novi, MI
Schedule: Days & Nights Available
Position Type: Long-Term Contract
Compensation: Competitive Pay (Based on Experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Machine Builders to join our team. This is a long-term contract opportunity with openings available on both day and night shifts. Candidates will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, installation, and build of custom automation equipment and production systems.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a leading automation integrator on cutting-edge manufacturing projects with consistent hours and long-term stability.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble custom automation machinery from engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Install mechanical components including conveyors, fixtures, tooling, and robotic equipment.
  • Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings and layout prints.
  • Perform precision machine alignment, leveling, and mechanical adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during machine build and commissioning.
  • Assist with equipment tear-down, installation, modifications, and startup activities.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and lifting equipment safely.
  • Work closely with electricians, controls engineers, and project teams to complete machine builds on schedule.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following all customer safety procedures.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience building custom automation equipment, machine tools, or assembly systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and assembly drawings.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be dependable, safety-focused, and quality-oriented.
Preferred Experience
  • Automotive automation or machine tool experience.
  • Experience working for automation integrators or OEMs.
  • Forklift, scissor lift, or aerial lift experience is beneficial.
