Applications from qualified local candidates for the general worker (18.75 hours/week)
position at East Granby Middle/ High School. This position is open until filled.
Work Year: 10-month position 183 days (including 1-day training, school opening, and cleaning day)
Work Day: 3.75 hours per day/18.75 hours per week (10:00 am to 1:45 pm)
Hourly Wage: $17.61
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Duties:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred
  • Responsible for all general food preparation, serving, cleaning, and sanitation procedures.
  • Assists with preparing vegetables, fruits, salads, sandwiches, and other menu items.
  • Sets up hot and/or cold food areas.
  • Performs cleaning duties, including sweeping floors, cleaning equipment and work areas, dishwashing, and pot washing.
  • Assists in receiving and storing food items. Ability to lift/move up to 30 pounds.
  • Assists in serving of daily menu items.
  • Cashiering experience is desired, but not required. Willingness to learn.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisors.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal effectively and courteously with students, food service department staff, and school personnel
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
