This role helps improve airflow, system efficiency, customer uptime, and overall service quality by keeping coils and related components clean, safe, and operating properly. This is a travel-based field role for someone who is comfortable working outdoors, living out of a suitcase during scheduled rotations, and being part of a small team that serves commercial customers in the field. Team members are paid weekly under a competitive commission-based pay model, with travel expenses and per diem provided in accordance with company policy.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems to support performance, energy efficiency, and customer compliance expectations.
  • Clean evaporator coils, condenser coils, blower assemblies, drain pans, and related components to improve airflow and system efficiency.
  • Inspect HVAC units for dirt buildup, leaks, component wear, and other conditions that may require repair, replacement, or follow-up service.
  • Remove, clean, and reinstall parts and components using hand tools such as drills and screwdrivers, ensuring equipment is returned to expected operating standards.
  • Use appropriate cleaning agents, tools, equipment, and PPE to safely remove debris, buildup, and contaminants from HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Identify, document, and report system concerns, safety issues, service findings, and recommended follow-up actions during maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain accurate service records, including work completed, site conditions, and reported issues.
  • Communicate professionally with facility managers, commercial clients, customers, supervisors, and internal service teams.
  • Coordinate with team members to complete routine cleanings efficiently and minimize operational downtime for customers.
  • Read, understand, and follow customer SOPs, site requirements, company policies, OSHA protocols, and safety procedures.
What We Are Looking For

The strongest candidates will be hands-on, safety-minded, professional with customers, and comfortable with extended travel and physically demanding field work.

Required

  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and cleaning of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, facility maintenance, or similar equipment.
  • Experience cleaning coils, blower assemblies, drain pans, or comparable mechanical components preferred for effective airflow and system performance.
  • Working knowledge of inspecting HVAC units for dirt buildup, leaks, component wear, and potential repair or replacement needs.
  • Proficiency using hand tools such as drills, screwdrivers, and related tools to remove and reinstall parts and components.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to report system issues during maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to maintain accurate service records and clearly document work completed, findings, and reported concerns.
  • Professional communication skills, both verbal and written, with internal teams, facility managers, and commercial clients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time effectively, and complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety protocols and commitment to following company, customer, and industry safety standards.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow customer SOPs and site-specific requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extended time in heat and sun and willingness to work in rain when safe and appropriate.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work/stand for 8+ hours during shifts.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for extended field rotations, including a typical seven-week field assignment followed by one week home, and to share hotel accommodations with a coworker while assigned to travel.

Preferred

  • Prior commercial HVAC, refrigeration, coil cleaning, preventive maintenance, or mechanical service experience.
  • Knowledge of EPA refrigerant handling guidelines; certification is a plus but not required.
  • Experience working on travel-based, route-based, or team-based field assignments.
Success Measures

Success in this role is measured by safe, high-quality field execution and strong customer-facing professionalism. Key outcomes include:

  • Safe and compliant completion of assigned coil cleaning and preventive maintenance work.
  • Quality and accuracy of cleaning, inspection, reinstallations, and reported findings.
  • Timely and complete service documentation and escalation of equipment or safety concerns.
  • Professional communication with customers, facility managers, supervisors, and field team members.
  • Effective teamwork and reliable performance during extended travel rotations.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements

This is a field-based role performed in commercial customer environments and outdoors. Essential work environment and physical requirements include:

  • Work at commercial customer sites, including mechanical areas, rooftops, outdoor locations, and other field service environments.
  • Comfort working outside in varying weather conditions, including extended time in heat and sun and willingness to work in rain when conditions are safe.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stand and walk for extended periods, bend, kneel, reach, handle tools, and work 8+ hours during assigned shifts.
  • Use required PPE and follow OSHA protocols, company safety standards, and customer site requirements at all times.
  • Travel-based schedule with teams generally assigned to seven weeks in the field followed by one week home; shared hotel accommodations with a coworker may be required.
  • Work schedule may include nights, weekends, overtime, extended shifts, and travel outside normal business hours based on customer and business needs.
  • Weekly pay through a competitive commission-based pay model, with travel expenses and per diem provided in accordance with company policy.
