Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for Custodial Student Worker positions for the Facilities Maintenance Services department.

Note: This position is subject to a pre-employment, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test. The candidate selected for hire will be required to sign a form acknowledging this policy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with cleaning and sanitizing classrooms;
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitizing restrooms;
  • Disinfecting and wiping down various surfaces;
  • Restocking hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes in classrooms and common areas;
  • Vacuuming floors using a backpack/upright vacuum;
  • Sweeping and mopping floors; and
  • Taking out trash.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Walking or standing to a significant degree;
  • Pushing and/or pulling;
  • Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects;
  • Working with and around hazardous building materials containing asbestos, solvents and cleaning chemicals;
  • Increased exposure to germs; and
  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures when working outside.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno;
  • Candidate must be able to work through winter and summer breaks;
  • Candidate must be dependable, reliable, thorough, motivated, and detail oriented; and
  • Candidate must be able to work as a member of a team and follow instructions.

Schedule

  • During Semester: Up to 25 hours a week
  • During Breaks: Up to 40 hours a week
  • Shifts will be scheduled Monday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 10:00 am
