Job description

Building Maintenance Position

This position is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of buildings, facilities, equipment, and systems. This includes tasks such as cleaning, minor repairs (electrical, plumbing, and carpentry), and preventative maintenance to ensure everything is in good working order and safe. Also responsible for operating and maintaining various tools and equipment, managing inventory of supplies, and assisting with larger repair projects as needed.

General Maintenance and Repairs:

Cleaning:

Sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, cleaning windows, emptying trash, and maintaining the general cleanliness of the communal areas of the facility.

Minor Repairs:

Fixing leaks, repairing doors and windows, replacing light bulbs and fuses, patching drywall, painting, and basic plumbing and electrical work.

Preventative Maintenance:

Regularly inspecting and servicing equipment, HVAC systems, and other building systems to prevent breakdowns and extend their lifespan.

Equipment Operation:

Operating tools and machinery like floor scrubbers, power washers, lawnmowers, and other equipment used in facility maintenance.

Inventory Management:

Keeping track of supplies, ordering replacements, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Assisting with Larger Repairs:

Working alongside skilled tradespeople on larger or more complex projects, such as major plumbing or electrical work.

Groundskeeping:

Maintaining lawns, gardens, and outdoor spaces, including tasks like mowing, trimming, and snow removal.

Safety:

Ensuring all work is performed safely, adhering to safety guidelines, and reporting any hazards.

Documentation:

Keeping records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inspections.
