Job description

About the Company:
Peak Energy is the first American venture to advance globally proven Sodium-Ion battery systems as the storage standard for the new era of renewable energy on a resilient grid. Sodium-Ion is cheap, readily available and safe, making it the leading contender in a rapidly evolving market. Our leadership team is powered by decades of expertise in scaling gigawatt-level innovation at world-class companies such as Tesla, Northvolt, SunPower, Fluence, and Enovix. We are backed by strategic investment and product partners such as TDK Ventures and Eclipse Ventures. We are a team of engineers, technicians, entrepreneurs, and partners driven by a shared ambition to set the new performance standard for renewable energy and grid resilience.
About the Job:
Peak Energy is looking for a skilled and motivated Process Engineer with expertise in battery manufacturing to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and improving manufacturing processes and procedures to meet production goals while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, evaluate, and continuously improve battery manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase product quality. Implement best practices to optimize production.
  • Support manufacturing quality by establishing and maintaining rigorous quality control standards, ensuring that the batteries meet or exceed industry and company specifications.
  • Identify and recommend state-of-the-art equipment and technologies that can be integrated into the production process to improve product performance, reliability, and yield.
  • Investigate and resolve process-related issues, such as defects, deviations, and inefficiencies, using root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Ensure that all processes and equipment adhere to safety protocols and industry standards. Implement and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of processes, procedures, and equipment specifications. Create process manuals and train production staff on best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to ensure the smooth transition of new products from development to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the manufacturing engineering department, identifying opportunities to enhance processes and product performance.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field). A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in battery manufacturing processes, preferably in lithium-ion or other advanced battery technologies.
  • Strong understanding of materials science and battery components.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in process simulation and modeling software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to battery manufacturing.
  • Prior experience with adhesion and dispense processes in battery assembly operations is considered a significant advantage.
