Senior Backend Developer - Renewable Energy Solutions
Location: Houston, Texas (Onsite)
Job Type: C2C
About the Role
Join a dynamic team driving innovation in the renewable natural gas (RNG) market. As a Senior Backend Developer, you will architect and build enterprise-level solutions supporting RNG trading, carbon credit calculations, and regulatory compliance for LCFS and RFS programs. Your expertise in .NET, scalable API design, and cloud technologies will help modernize the energy sector and contribute to a sustainable future.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ASP.NET Core 9.0 backend applications in C#
- Create and document RESTful APIs for biogas trading, inventory management, and compliance reporting
- Implement business logic for RINS credit calculations, LCFS adherence, and carbon credit trading workflows
- Manage data persistence using Entity Framework Core with PostgreSQL
- Integrate authentication and authorization via Azure Active Directory and Microsoft Identity Platform
- Develop automated email workflows, reporting tools, and background job scheduling using Quartz.NET
- Connect with Microsoft Graph API for SharePoint document management
- Build real-time features using SignalR for live trading and inventory updates
- Ensure data integrity with FluentValidation
- Deploy containerized solutions using Docker and OpenShift
- Collaborate in code reviews, unit testing (xUnit, FluentAssertions), and CI/CD pipeline operations
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of .NET backend development (C#, ASP.NET Core)
- Proficient in Entity Framework Core and PostgreSQL
- Expertise in RESTful API design with OpenAPI/Swagger documentation
- Strong experience with OAuth2, JWT, Azure AD
- Hands-on with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift deployment
- Skilled in scheduled/background job processing
- Solid understanding of SOLID principles and clean architecture
- Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (Azure DevOps)
Preferred Skills
- Background in energy trading or financial systems
- Knowledge of LCFS, RFS, RINS, and environmental compliance
- Experience with Azure cloud services and advanced data processing
- Familiarity with Testcontainers for integration testing
