What is a CLC student?

CLC Students are individuals currently enrolled at the College of Lake County (CLC), a community college located in Illinois. These students may be pursuing associate degrees, certificates, or taking classes for personal enrichment or transfer to a four-year institution. CLC students have access to a variety of resources, including academic advising, tutoring, career services, and extracurricular activities. They come from diverse backgrounds and may attend classes on campus, online, or in hybrid formats. Being a CLC student provides opportunities for academic growth, skill development, and involvement in the campus community.

What key skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a CLC student, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CLC (College of Lake County) student, strong study habits, time management, and foundational academic skills are essential, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with online learning platforms like Canvas, Microsoft Office, and library research tools is often required. Initiative, adaptability, and effective communication help students engage fully in coursework and campus life. These skills and qualities are vital for academic success, personal growth, and preparing for future career or transfer opportunities.

What types of support services are available to CLC students to help balance academic and extracurricular commitments?

CLC students have access to a range of support services designed to help them manage both academic and extracurricular responsibilities. These include academic advising, tutoring centers, mental health counseling, and flexible scheduling options. Additionally, student organizations and campus resource centers often provide workshops on time management and study skills, creating a supportive environment for students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
