Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Principal
EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
  • Provide instructional assistance and student supervision in a variety of classroom settings to support student learning and ensure continuity of instruction while teachers attend Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings. Maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment in alignment with district and campus expectations.

Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
  • Ability to work well with children with diverse needs, including students with disabilities
  • Knowledge of general classroom management practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Experience:
  • Experience working with children preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Provide classroom coverage for teachers attending ARD committee meetings.
  • Assist in implementing teacher-directed lesson plans and instructional activities.
  • Help students master instructional materials and reinforce learning concepts.
  • Provide support to students receiving special education services, including implementation of accommodations and modifications as directed.
  • Help manage student behavior and maintain a structured learning environment.
  • Monitor students during assigned periods to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
  • Assist with transitions, routines, and supervision of students in various settings.
  • Work with individual students or small groups to support learning and engagement.
  • Adapt to various classroom assignments, including general education and special education settings.
  • Assist with instructional materials and classroom organization as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
  • Participate in staff development and training as required.
  • Follow district safety protocols and campus procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
