Primary Responsibilities
To protect and enhance the reputation and public image of the Cooperative and its staff; to contribute in every way possible to high morale, teamwork, and helping others obtain job satisfaction. To maintain and enhance the delivery of electric energy and related services to the Cooperative's membership by managing the activities and resources of the Engineering Department through planning, implementing, and evaluating its functioning. To aid and support the Technical Services Manager and to keep him informed of the end results that are being achieved. Advise and assist the Technical Services Manager by providing reports and information regarding progress and developments (total system), so that the Technical Services Manager can effectively discharge his responsibility. To provide information to other departments and seek such professional and technical assistance as is needed from staff departments and consultants as is necessary, and as approved by the Technical Services Manager, to enable all system departments to effectively discharge their assigned responsibilities and secure desired results. May assist/back-up Technical Services Manager in some activities and special projects. May support Technical Services Manager on base system engineering activities. This position is a part of operations supervisor on-call rotation.
Essential Job Functions
  • Maximizes the efficient utilization of the Cooperative's resources by developing and justifying the Engineering Department's portion of the annual work plan and budget. Increases plant efficiencies and reliability by being the principal planner for long- and short-range system planning and design of distribution overhead and underground facilities.
  • Maintains high level of service quality and minimizes flicker and brief service interruptions by annually evaluating the coordination of line protective equipment.
  • Maintains high level of coordination in the Cooperative's purchasing function by making timely technical and economic evaluations of special equipment, transformer, meter equipment prior to purchases (e.g., transformer loss evaluations).
  • Assures smooth work order flow by coordinating engineering staking activities with consumer requests and Line Department workflow procedures.
  • Provides support for the Technical Services Manager by becoming and remaining knowledgeable in the latest SCADA systems and communications technologies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or another related disciplinary field.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in the electric utility industry with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Must possess the ability to work with other employees and/or department, define problems, make rational independent decisions, work with mathematical concepts, and use of computer applications.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Texas Class C Driver's License is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) years' experience in utility engineering field.
