Job description

POSITON TITLE: Class Instructor
General Description: The class instructor will design, plan, and deliver engaging educational, social, and/or fitness classes to our Lourie Center members. The instructor will ensure that classes are suitable for various skill levels, promote social interaction, and enhance the physical and mental well-being of participants.
Additional Information:
This is an independent contract position. Class sessions are available Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00am โ€“ 4:00pm. Class sessions are available in 1-hour increments based on schedule availability. Reports to The Lourie Center Programs Coordinator.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and facilitate classes in a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment.
  2. Prepare class plans, organize relative equipment, set-up and take-down materials used for instruction; may be responsible for finding a dependable, appropriate substitute upon absence.
  3. Assess and adapt classes to accommodate the varying physical and cognitive abilities of senior participants.
  4. Encourage participation and foster a sense of community among class members.
  5. Provide feedback and support to participants to help them achieve their personal goals.
  6. Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations.
  7. Collaborate with The Lourie Center Programs Coordinator to schedule classes and promote programs.
  8. Attend instructor meetings and/or training sessions as required.
Qualifications:
Customer service experience required, with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with senior population, preferably in a teaching or instructional capacity. Ability to create and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse participants. Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations related to senior activities. Must be dependable and courteous in a fast-paced environment. Content certification may be required based on class.
