NON-CDL Bus Driver

Salary: $18.00 - $19.17

Position Overview Join The Arc Ontario as a Driver and play a key role in helping individuals stay connected to their communities through safe, supportive transportation. In this rewarding position, you'll transport people supported by The Arc Ontario, contract passengers, and members of the public along designated routes, while providing assistance with boarding, exiting, and mobility equipment as needed. You'll help ensure a smooth and comfortable ride, keep vehicles clean and in good working order, and contribute to a culture of safety and care. Work Location: Canandaigua, NY

Schedule: Part-time; M-F 25 hours per week. Hours vary between 6 am and 4pm to meet program needs

The Arc Ontario Story:

Founded in 1954, The Arc Ontario, believes that All individuals with disabilities or other challenges are one with their community.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a valid NY driver's license, minimum of a Class D.
  • Responsible for the safe and timely pickup and delivery of all persons assigned to designated routes as a bus driver. Adheres to routes and operates vehicle(s) in a manner which assures passenger safety.
  • Responds to individual needs of passengers and report any issues to a supervisor. Utilizes two-way radio to contact base when necessary.
  • Provides supervision and assists passengers during loading and unloading of vehicle at designated stops. Demonstrates safe and correct use of wheelchair lifts, seat belts, Q-Straints, etc. Demonstrates proper lifting techniques when transferring passengers from a wheel chair to a seat, during emergencies, and when lifting equipment (walkers, coolers, backpacks, etc.) into a bus.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • HS diploma/GED preferred and one year of experience or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
  • No moving violations for 12 Months prior to hire
  • Valid NYS class D driver's license
