Job description

Propane Delivery Driver

Responsible for the local delivery of propane using a bobtail truck (straight truck) within a designated route or region. Ensure timely, accurate, and safe transportation of propane while maintaining excellent customer service and compliance with DOT regulations.

  • Organize daily delivery tickets to optimize route efficiency and minimize travel time.
  • Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety and DOT regulations.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip truck inspections in compliance with DOT regulations; complete all necessary hazardous materials documentation.
  • Collect payments on Cash-on-Delivery (COD) accounts when applicable.
  • Fill the bobtail truck from the 30,000-gallon bulk tank, adhering to safety procedures.
  • Complete all required documentation for daily vehicle inspections and hazardous materials shipping.
  • Deliver propane or related products to customers, accurately metering each delivery.
  • Pick up empty cylinders and authorize return merchandise from customers.
  • Record starting and ending tank percentages on every delivery ticket.
  • Obtain customer signatures on all delivery tickets and provide the yellow copy for their records.
  • Accurately complete trip sheets at each stop, including delivery times and quantities.
  • Return all merchandise and completed forms to the designated check-in area.
  • Submit final paperwork, including end-of-day mileage, to the office upon completing all deliveries.
  • Perform post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT guidelines.
  • Unload truck at the plant at the end of each shift.
  • Park and secure the vehicle at the end of the shift following company protocols.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license (Class B or higher)

  • Clean driving record (typically no DUIs, major accidents, or excessive violations)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50-75 lbs. regularly.
