The driver will act as an integral member of the 1st Class Childcare team to assist in the overall management of transporting children safely to and from a 1st Class Childcare Programs/Centres in accordance Alberta’s Child Care Licensing Regulations and 1st Class Childcare driver policy, procedures and safety manual.

This position will report to the Owner/Director, Management and the TransportationManager.


Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct daily checklist/inspection every morning.

• Maintains up to date records of bus maintenance.

• Maintain supplies on bus.

• Check fuel daily and re-fuel as required.

• Confirm child head count at every drop off and pick up.

• Ensuring all children are in age appropriate child safety restraints at all times before driving.

• Always maintain constant supervision of the children on the bus.

• Follows safe bus loading and unloading procedures.

• Conduct daily walk through on the bus after every drop off.

• Know and abide by all policies and procedures, including evacuation and accident procedures.

• Daily housekeeping duties as required to keep the bus clean which includes sweeping/vacuuming floor and seats, cleaning/sanitizing high touch areas.


Qualifications

• Computer knowlwdge and an ability to be trained on using corporate 3rd party software

• Class 4 Driver’s License with a clear driver’s abstract to drive up to 21 passenger buses (required on employment).

• Ability to perform employment test such as Road test, Ride along and any other special training when required.

• Criminal Check & Vulnerable Sector Search.

• CPR/ First Aid certification (Preferred)

• Early Childcare Educator Certification of any level preferred

• Strong interpersonal skills to gain trust and respect of children and their parents.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

• Excellent Oral and written communication skills.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Fast paced environment.

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Able to walk, bend, stand, squat or crouch to child’s level.

• Able to physical respond quickly in an emergency.
