Fitter Class 1

This position is located on-site in our Bayou La Batre, AL shipyard


Our Ship Fitters are an integral piece of our work on a daily basis.  Some of your daily functions will include:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints. 
  • Minimal welding; must be able to tack weld. 
  • Must be proficient in layout and cutting of steels and aluminum using necessary tools. 
  • Read a tape measure and other measuring devices. 
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy and fairness of materials to be fitted. 
  • Operate equipment safely and comply with all safety standards. 
  • Must be able to recognize fit up issues and relay to supervisor. 

Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED. 
  • 3 years of experience as a Ship Fitter.
  • Fundamental knowledge in a marine of manufacturing industry.
  • Excellent communication, math and problem-solving skills. 
  • Must possess the basic tools required to perform shipfitters duties.
