Job description

At Clark Pacific, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the implementation of environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures across Clark Pacific operations. Working within the EHS, Manufacturing, and Field teams, this role supports EHS and Operations in ensuring local, state, and federal safety regulations are adhered to by all personnel working for, on behalf of, or under contract to Clark Pacific. The EHS Specialist focuses on behavior-based safety strategies to create a safety management system that increases employee and management buy-in while improving productivity and efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with staff, projects, and proprietary information.
  • Conduct regular, or ad hoc, yard/plant/job site visits and audits under the direction of management.
  • Assist with incident investigations under the direction of management.
  • Collect and enter data specific to the prevention of injuries and enhancement of a safe and healthful work environment.
  • Aggregate data and complete draft reports.
  • Coordinate with EHS Management and Operational leaders on environmental, health and safety engineering projects and initiatives.
  • Focus on safety management enhances the wellbeing of employees and increases production and efficiency.
  • Support COVID contact tracing as needed.
  • Review, revise, and coach stakeholders regarding, but not limited to, the following programs: JHA, PTP, rigging/pick plans, and fall protection.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Environmental Health and Safety role is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years total general manufacturing industry and/or construction experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental, or equivalent relevant heavy manufacturing or heavy construction experience is preferred.
  • Any of the following certifications: CHST, OHST, STS, STS-C, are preferred.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as effective listening and engagement with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and engage and motivate teams representing diverse backgrounds and viewpoints; exceptionally collaborative.
  • Ability to maintain attentiveness to detail and accuracy throughout involvement in multiple projects without losing sight of goals and deadlines.
  • Excellent organization skills to drive topics with multiple stakeholders/interests.
  • Problem solving skills that aim to remedy and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Comfortable escalating issues while maintaining positive relationships with team members and other organizations.
  • Passionate about Clark Pacific’s vision and mission; able to promote, demonstrate, and communicate the mission, values and core competencies of Clark Pacific to others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite programs.
