CLAMP OPERATOR
Starting Pay: $20.50, once qualified $21.66/hr+
Shift:3rd shift M-F 1100pm-7:00am or 2nd shift M-F 3p-11p overtime and weekends as needed
The opportunity:
Clamp Truck Operators play a critical role in our production process.
They are responsible for unloading paper rolls from trucks and railcars, stacking roll stock, maintaining an organized workspace, and loading rolls into industrial machines.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
The job is fast paced, requires attention to detail, and a relentless focus on safety.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
Primary job duties will include but are not limited to:
โข Follow all safety rules and procedures and actively participate in the plant's safety culture
โข Load/unload production machines, trailers, and railcars utilizing onboard computers (Thors)
โข Perform safety inspections for trailers, docks, and dock plates
โข Utilize proper PPE for equipment safety checks and changing propane tanks
โข Alert supervisors to product quality issues โข Maintain housekeeping and organization in the workspace
โข Perform various other duties as needed
What you need to succeed:
โข Minimum 2 years of experience operating a power industrial machine (PIT) - prior experience at a paper mill or corrugated facility strongly preferred
โข Knowledge of scanning systems
โข Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English
โข Ability to read materials to understand and apply content, such as instruction manuals and procedure manuals.
โข Understanding of how to read shipping tags and shipping manifests
โข Able to perform basic math
โข Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and other safety gear as required (We will provide any necessary
โข Ability sit/drive continuously with occasional walking, kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, climbing, and grasping.
โข Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
โข Ability to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment (hot or cold)
โข Experience with inventory software preferred
