Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Commercial Lines Claims Advocate to support commercial insurance clients throughout the claims process. This role is responsible for assisting with claim submissions, monitoring claim activity, coordinating communication between clients and carriers, and advocating for timely and effective claim resolution. The ideal candidate is an organized and empathetic professional with strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service. This position plays a key role in supporting client satisfaction, strengthening carrier communication, and ensuring claims are handled accurately and efficiently from initiation through resolution.

Work Arrangement: This is a full-time, hybrid position reporting our office in Waterloo, IA.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for insured clients throughout the claims process, providing guidance, reassurance, and timely updates.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, insurance carriers, Producers, and internal team members to ensure all parties remain informed and aligned on claim status and next steps.
  • Compile and submit claims to insurance carriers, ensuring required documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted timely.
  • Review policies, coverage limits, terms, conditions, and related documentation to support accurate claim submissions and coverage evaluation.
  • Assist with gathering information, evidence, and supporting materials needed to move claims forward.
  • Monitor ongoing claims, track claim activity, and proactively follow up with carriers to support timely resolution.
  • Organize and facilitate claim review meetings with clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders to discuss claim progress, strategy, and action items.
  • Support large accounts by tracking claim developments, preparing client deliverables, and coordinating quarterly claims review meetings as needed.
  • Keep Producers and Commercial Lines team members informed of claim developments and potential service concerns.
  • Assist in negotiating claim closures with carriers when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of claim activity, client communications, follow-up items, and carrier updates within agency systems.
  • Protect confidential client information and comply with applicable privacy requirements, including HIPAA standards when handling protected health information.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Prior customer service experience required, preferably in insurance, claims, account management, or a related client support role.
  • Active Iowa Property & Casualty insurance license required or ability to obtain and maintain required licensing.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of Commercial Lines insurance experience in customer support, account management, claims advocacy, or a related role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance claims processes, policy documentation, carrier procedures, and client service expectations preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear, professional, and empathetic support.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage follow-up items, and support multiple claims simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail when reviewing documents, entering data, and maintaining claim records.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a persistent and proactive approach to achieving successful claim outcomes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, agency management systems, and other claims or client management technology.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, carriers, Producers, and internal team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, ethical standards, and continued industry education.
