Job description

Overview
The server is to provide prompt, efficient, and courteous service, display salesmanship, and friendly hospitality. To serve the guest, they are the number one focus. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company's brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. - Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).
Responsibilities
  • Must work as a team; helping fellow employees and managers to ensure the finest possible service is given to our guests.
  • To be courteous and respectful of everyone.
  • Must have a sense of urgency and pay attention to detail.
  • Be positive and professional at all times.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures, health, and liquor laws.
  • Adhere to Health Regulations, ensuring that your work area is clean, organized, and sanitized throughout the shift.
  • Maintain uniform appearance according to established guidelines.
  • Work your shift with an advanced level of speed, organization, and accuracy.
  • Use proper food handling techniques when handling food.
  • Know Claim Jumper menu, Recipes and Plate Specifications.
  • Assure that food and beverages are presented according to the guest's specifications.
  • Proper Safety and Sanitation Guidelines.
  • Must maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Use proper stock rotation and storage areas, maintain PAR levels of items used in your station.
  • Notify Chef or Manager of any needed supplies.
  • Notify Chef or Manager of any issues/problems that arise, immediately.
  • Know all locations of all Golden Nugget outlets and services that are available to the guests.
  • Complete special projects as requested by Food & Beverage Management, Chef, Managers.
  • Complete assigned side-work/set-up and breakdown of dining room and station.
  • Turn-over/take over station/shift according to established procedures (Close to Open).
  • Display a friendly and warm hospitality while greeting and seating guests in time of assisting the host.
  • Attend pre-shift meetings.
  • Assist the host, bussers, food runners, and the bar as needed.
  • Prebus as needed and sort according to dish room set-up; assisting servers and bussers to ensure the guest is receiving what they want or need immediately.
  • Greet table within 45 seconds, remove the place settings that have been marked by the host as vacant, take their beverage order and follow the Steps of Service.
  • Garnish all cocktails according to Claim Jumper specifications.
  • Take care of any special needs that the guest may desire or needs.
  • Check to ensure that tables are properly and completely set, side stations are kept clean, inform fellow employees if you need assistance, be available to help each other.
  • Communicate with your busser.
  • Run items that need to be delivered to the guest to ensure promptness.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques.
  • Accurately input orders into the Aloha system with position numbers.
  • Be in your station to assist food runner in serving the guests, refill beverages, prebus, mis en place, Adhere to additional requests/needs of the guest.
  • Be available to your guest throughout their entire dining experience at the Grotto.
  • Thank the guests, be check ready at all times, present the check, and settle checks according to established procedures, invite them back, and create an experience for them that will develop into guest loyalty.
  • Notify manager of any Employee Discount, Black Card, or needed Comp.
  • Give all lost and found items to the manager.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Must have great people skills, a clean and well-groomed appearance, and to be respectful of everyone.
  • Must be capable of carrying heavy trays efficiently and securely.
  • Thorough knowledge of proper service and etiquette.
  • Health Card and Alcohol Awareness Card required.
  • Minimum age requirement is 21.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills to include ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide specific to position responsibilities.
  • Ability to read and understand all policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, employees, and members of management in English, specific to position duties and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to complete standard forms and reports.
