What does a CKAD do?

As a CKAD-certified professional, your daily responsibilities often include developing, deploying, and managing containerized applications within Kubernetes clusters. You’ll spend time writing and updating resource definitions, troubleshooting deployment issues, and monitoring application performance. Job description

Principal Consultant, Azure

Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid) or Remote

Type: Full-Time

Travel: Up to 50%

About the Role

ivision — a Microsoft Solutions Partner with 22+ years of Microsoft partnership, 5x Solutions Partner designations, and 6x Advanced Specializations — is hiring a Principal Consultant, Azure to join our Modern Work, Cloud & AI Practice.

This is a hybrid technical leadership role spanning consulting delivery, pre-sales architecture, and practice development. You'll be the senior technical voice on complex Azure engagements — from landing zone design and enterprise datacenter migrations to application & database modernization — while mentoring a high-performing team of Senior Consultants.

What You'll Do

  • Architect and deliver enterprise-scale Azure Landing Zones, migrations, and modernization programs using CAF and the Well-Architected Framework.
  • Lead App & Database Modernization programs — re-architect legacy 3-tier client/server apps to Azure-native PaaS (App Service, AKS, Functions, Azure SQL DB/MI), aligning with CAF landing zones and Private Endpoint patterns.
  • Lead technical pre-sales — discovery, assessments, scoping, LOE, and SOW development — partnering with Account Executives and Practice Directors.
  • Engage C-level executives as a trusted advisor on cloud strategy and transformation.
  • Build reusable IP — reference architectures, scoping toolkits, runbooks — and grow ivision's Azure offering portfolio, including ownership of the App & DB Modernization service.
  • Mentor Senior and mid-level consultants; drive Microsoft Azure Specialization wins.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years in IT consulting; 5+ years architecting and migrating workloads to Microsoft Azure.
  • 3+ years as a Solutions/Enterprise/Lead Architect on medium-to-large enterprise migrations.
  • 3+ years architecting application modernization programs (3-tier → Azure PaaS).
  • Deep expertise across Azure networking, identity, security, governance, IaC (Bicep/Terraform), AKS, App Service, Azure SQL DB/MI, AVD, and FinOps.
  • Strong executive presence, exceptional technical writing, and a collaborative, mentor-first mindset.

Certifications

Required: AZ-305, AZ-104

Strongly Preferred: AZ-500, AZ-204, AZ-700, AZ-400, CKA/CKAD
