Civil / Structural Engineer — Mining & Infrastructure
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: On-Site / Project-Based
Shape the Future of Heavy Industry
Are you an accomplished Civil or Structural Engineer with a passion for high-impact mining projects? We are looking for an experienced technical leader to take charge of end-to-end civil and structural scopes within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary EPCM environment.
From conceptual design and structural analysis to site supervision, commissioning, and stakeholder management, you will play a pivotal role in delivering safe, high-quality, and complex infrastructure for major mining and plant operations. If you thrive on technical challenges and want to see your designs come to life in the field, this is your next great career move.
Key Responsibilities & Core Functions
- Design & Engineering Excellence: Oversee the 3D design of mining infrastructure, earthworks (excavations, embankments, roads, culverts, buried services), structural concrete foundations, and industrial buildings/equipment supports.
- Technical Oversight: Produce, review, and sign off on civil and structural engineering drawings, construction packages, and design calculations.
- Project & Contract Management: Manage project time schedules, costs, quality, and scope across all civil and structural contracts, ensuring strict adherence to safety and statutory requirements.
- Site Leadership & Commissioning: Direct site supervisors and contractors, conduct regular field inspections, troubleshoot complex technical challenges on-site, and lead initial establishment and commissioning phases.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with clients, project managers, external consultants, and engineers of other disciplines while managing high-level project risks.
- Commercial & Proposals: Prepare engineering proposals, estimates, budgets, and detailed scopes of work for civil, concrete, and structural contracts, while driving procurement activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Required (Structural engineering specialization highly preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role within a multi-disciplinary EPCM environment.
- Industry Background: Previous mining project experience is mandatory, including 3D design of infrastructure in mining and plant operations.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience in structural design and analysis (concrete foundations, heavy steel structures, equipment supports, and industrial buildings).
- Licensure: Active Registered Engineer status.
- Preferred Strengths: Proven ability to review and sign off on structural drawings/calculations, alongside familiarity with heavy industrial and mining structural codes and standards.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to alternate between sitting and standing, with stationary desk work required ~50% of the time.
- Physical capability to stand, push/pull, reach overhead or below shoulder level, kneel, squat, or stoop as needed during site inspections.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of files, documents, or small packages (typically up to 10–20 pounds).
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer operation and close visual acuity for analyzing engineering data, reading schematics, and working on design software.
