Job description

NV5 is an ENR Top 500 firm; we offer a full range of professional services in offices throughout the U.S.

NV5’s New York City office is seeking a full-time Site Civil Engineer with 1-3 years of experience in the field to support our growing site civil engineering practice. The selected candidate will work out of our New York City office in Lower Manhattan but may assist with work across the Country developing site civil engineering plans and specifications for a variety of land development projects including residential/mixed use developments, commercial/industrial development, electrical substations and stormwater management projects.

NV5’s New York City office operates on a four-day work week.


The Site Civil Engineer will be responsible for the technical execution of projects primarily associated with stormwater management planning and design, site civil planning and design, NYC DEP Site Connection Proposals, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, and any associated permitting. This may include:

  • Performing calculations, developing design plans and details for green infrastructure and stormwater management practices
  • Developing site grading, site and roadway layout, parking lot payout, lighting design and utility design associated with commercial, industrial, residential developments, and electrical substations. 
  • Assisting with transportation aspects of projects including access, internal circulation such as AutoTURN, and parking lot maneuverability
  • Perform tributary drainage area analysis and sizing of stormwater management systems
  • Preparing permit packages for City and/or State Agencies
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports (drainage reports, due diligence reports, technical memos and SWPPP’s)
  • Preparing cost estimates for conceptual level design and final design
  • Field work for data gathering, surveys, and construction observations
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental or water resources engineering
  • Minimum of 0-3 years related experience
  • Strong understanding of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience with modeling software, such as AutoTURN, DiaLux Evo
  • Detailed oriented, excellent writing skills
  • Knowledge of NYC DEP Stormwater Rules and Permits is desired but not required 

Certifications/Licenses:

  • EIT is required
  • PE is preferred

The pay range for this position in New York City is $75,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year.

Base pay offered for this New York–based role may vary and can be higher or lower depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on the role offered. This disclosure is provided in accordance with New York Senate Bill S1326. Base pay information is determined by market location.
