Career Opportunity: Staff Civil Engineer, Sportworks with The Kleingers Group in Cincinnati, OH Are you passionate about sports facility design and civil engineering? Do you enjoy transforming concepts into award-winning athletic facilities, synthetic turf fields, and campus site plans? Are you motivated by collaborating with clients, architects, contractors, and project teams to deliver innovative solutions? If yes, then we want to speak with you!

The Staff Civil Engineer, Sportworks provides technical leadership for planning, evaluation, design, and implementation of civil engineering projects focused on sports facilities and site development. As part of Sportworks Design, a dedicated team of land surveyors, civil and sports engineers, and landscape architects, this role contributes to the design of athletic facilities, synthetic turf fields, campus site plans, and other sports-related projects utilizing innovative engineering technology and industry standards.

The position regularly collaborates with internal teams and clients, occasionally interacts with public agencies and government entities, and manages assigned co-ops and interns. The Staff Civil Engineer serves as a professional representative of the company while demonstrating intermediate proficiency with engineering software and civil design practices. 

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide engineering guidance to project stakeholders and management regarding project requirements, design considerations, and construction modifications
  • Prepare and communicate designs using CAD and related engineering software tools
  • Develop design specifications through engineering analysis, including water flow calculations, traffic demand studies, and earthwork balancing
  • Plan projects utilizing surveys, maps, aerial photography, blueprints, and geologic and topographical data
  • Prepare technical reports, including detention reports and engineering due diligence reports
  • Perform construction cost estimating for materials, equipment, and labor requirements
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, engineers, and surveyors to ensure successful project execution
  • Establish and verify project grades, elevations, installation points, and other construction-related criteria
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards
  • Mentor team members and share company methodologies, best practices, and technical knowledge
  • Perform fundamental site design, including stormwater detention design
  • Participate in professional organizations, industry events, and networking opportunities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
  • Minimum of 2 consecutive years of civil engineering experience required
  • Experience with site development and sports facility design projects is a plus
  • Public speaking and presentation skills preferred
  • Ability to manage basic design projects from concept through completion as the primary designer
  • Working knowledge of state and local regulations
  • Intermediate understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and design methodologies
  • Proficiency with CAD and other engineering design, data analysis, and drafting software
  • Basic knowledge of construction methods, materials, and site infrastructure improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to balance creativity with technical engineering requirements
  • Highly detail-oriented with exceptional accuracy and organization
