Job description

The Nevada Department of Transportation's Construction Division seeks a Staff 1 Associate Engineer to review highway construction plans, specifications, and special provisions for accuracy and constructability. The role includes attending project meetings, calculating liquidated damages, developing time determination schedules, and assisting with transportation management plans in Carson City, NV. The incumbent will work both in office and on-site to ensure contract documents are complete, biddable, and constructable.

Key qualifications:
  • Certification as Engineer Intern from Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, OR Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field, OR two years journey level technical
  • Valid driver's license required at time of appointment
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Must pass pre-employment controlled substance screening and random testing during employment
  • Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry applied to engineering problems
