Role Description The Civil Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Seattle, WA. This role is responsible for preparing civil design plans and reports for site development, stormwater systems, utilities, grading, roadway improvements, and related infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks include performing design and drafting using AutoCAD Civil3d, engineering calculations, developing construction documents, coordinating with project leads, architects, and other consultants, and supporting permitting efforts with local jurisdictions. The Civil Design Engineer will review codes and standards, assist with cost estimates and feasibility analyses, and participate in design meetings and field visits as needed. The position also involves contributing to quality control, maintaining project documentation, and supporting the delivery of projects on schedule and within budget.
Qualifications
- Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design skills, with the ability to prepare complete, code-compliant civil plan sets.
- Stormwater Management expertise, including drainage system design, low-impact/green infrastructure, and regulatory compliance. Experience or ability to learn WWHM, MGSFlood and other stormwater modeling software.
- Land Development experience, covering site layout, grading, utilities, and feasibility analysis for private and public projects.
- Roadway Design capabilities for streets, access roads, and related transportation infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field; EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington or ability to obtain is preferred.
- Proficiency with civil design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar) and standard office tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a small team environment, manage multiple assignments, and communicate clearly with clients and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with local Seattle and Washington State codes, standards, and permitting processes is beneficial.
