Job description

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT), an employee-owned consultant engineering firm, is seeking a highly motivated Site Civil Project Engineer to join our growing Site and Infrastructure team of design professionals in our Rockville, MD or Herndon, VA office.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on challenging projects, develop your career, and seek advancement as a Site Civil Engineer. This position offers a competitive salary and benefits along with the opportunity for significant challenges and rewards. In addition to supporting projects in the assigned office, the candidate may be involved with other AMT offices and project opportunities.
We provide an Excellent Work / Life Balance and an opportunity to work a Hybrid (Combination of Office and Remote) schedule.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without employer sponsorship. This position is not eligible for employment-based immigration sponsorship, either H1-B or OPT Based future sponsorship.
Responsibilities
  • Assisting the project manager and supporting engineering staff in the preparation of construction documents, design of site and infrastructure improvements including grading, utilities, erosion control, and storm water management
  • Preparation of design calculations and reports
  • Processing construction and permit documents through the regulatory agencies
  • Interact with Clients
  • Construction support services including site inspections and construction administration duties.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in the planning and civil engineering design of mixed use, residential, commercial, institutional, and public site development projects.
  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • EIT Required, PE preferred
  • Ability to prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates
  • Ability to assist with the preparation of engineering studies and reports
  • Technical proficiency in using AutoCAD including Civil 3D required
